Admission is free but we hope people will donate generously.   The event has been organised to raise funds for St Oswald's Church Restoration Fund.

 

All the work that has gone into the exhibition has been freely given by those organising and exhibiting not to mention voluntary contributions towards publicity, printing and many other items.  We sincerely thank all who have contributed in any way.

Facilities

Accessibility:  Inside the church entrance door there are 5 steps down to gain entry to the building.  There are handrails by the steps.  Currently there is no ramp or chair lift.

Toilets:  The church has one accessible toilet with baby changing facilities.  There are public toilets immediately outside the George Washington which is situated next to the Church Hall.

Refreshments:  Tea, coffee, soft drinks and cakes will be available in the church.

 

How to find us

Getting Here

By Bus

Warton is on the bus route of:

Stagecoach 49 - Lancaster Bus Station to Halton and Warton via Carnforth

Stagecoach 51 - Carnforth to Silverdale

Buses run every day except Sunday 

 

By Train

Carnforth train station is within walking distance (1.5 miles) or use the 49 or 51 bus to Warton which both stop near the station entrance. 

 

By Bike

There is a bike rack alongside the Church Hall which is next to the church.

Parking

Parking in the village is mostly street parking.  Please park with care and only park on one side of the street as it is a narrow road and a bus route.

 

On Saturday and Sunday only, you may park on the yellow zigzag lines opposite the church hall as there are no restrictions at weekends. Please DO NOT park on the yellow zigzags on week days.

 

There is a car park a short but steepish distance on Crag Road immediately above the Old School Brewery.  If the weather is fine and you are a good walker there is another carpark further up Crag Road.

 

The proprietor of Warton Hall Garage has very kindly offered the forecourt for parking on Saturday & Sunday only.  On Sunday a few spaces will be reserved for Morris Dancers’ cars

 

Please DO NOT park in The George Washington car park unless you are a pub customer.

Warton Old Rectory

Across the road from St Oswald’s Church are the remains of The Old Rectory built in the early years of the fourteenth century by the de Thweng family.

Warton Crag is a limestone hill, two areas of which are nature reserves, Warton Crag and Warton Crag Quarry.  There are several easily accessible walks.
